Kent Club.
The regular meeting of the Kent Club
was held last night at the Law School.
The subject was, “Resolved, That the
United States Constitution should be
amended so as to make an income tax
constitutional.” . The speakers for the
affirmative were Clarke, Berry and Boll-
man; for the negative, Hickey, Nor-
man and. Matheson. The judges
awarded the decision to the affirmative.
The subject for debate. at the meeting
on next Tuesday evening is, “Resolved,
That the House of Representatives
should deny Congressman-elect Roberts
his seat in Congress.”

As to Football Championships.
[Harvard Crimson.]
There is just one thing to be said
about the football season of 1899 and
that is (as we said before the Harvard-
Yale game had been played) that foot-
ball championships have become things
of the past and any claim to that title
this year must be based solelv on con-
jecture. In a year which has been con-
spicuous for muddles, any college or
university which makes such a claim
must be regarded as caring less for foot-
ball as a sport than as a means of adver-
tising its athletics prowess. As Presi-
dent Hadley has said, “this is profes-
sionalism of the subtlest kind.”

Robinson Latin Prizes.
The conditions under which the Lucius
F. Robinson Latin Prizes will be
awarded for the present College year,
were announced by Prof. Peck, Thurs-
day, November 30, as follows:
There will be two sets of prizes of
$50, $30 and $20. The first set is open
to members of the Sophomore class tak-
ing Latin. The second set is open to
those members of the Junior and Senior
classes who take three hours of Latin a
week for the year. The competition
will be based on three lines of work: 1,
The Latin work of the year; 2, an exam-
ination on translation at sight; 3, an
examination on Sallust, Cataline and
Jugurtha. The examinations will be
held in the first part of June.
