unusually large. There were six re-
fusals early in the afternoon. Messrs.
Stillman and Reynolds refused elections
to Skull and Bones, and Messrs. Hixon,
Edwards, Fulton and Hord refused elec-
tions to Wolf's Head. Messrs. Still-
man and Reynolds were later elected
to Scroll and Key, and Messrs. Hixon
_ and Edwards to Skull and Bones. |
The list of those elected follow, with
something about the College record of
each man. The societies are given in
the order of their foundation and the
men in the order in which the elections
were announced:
SKULL AND BONES.
Sherman Lockwood Coy of Lakeville,
Conn., tapped by James Cowan Green-
way of Hot Springs, Ark. He was a
member of Eta Phi in his Sophomore
year and Chairman of the Campaign
Committee; while in Junior year he
was Chairman of the Delta Kappa Ep-
silon Campaign Committee. He played
on his Freshman football team and was
an end on the University a year ago.
He was a member of the Junior Prom.
Committee and the Apollo Glee Club;
is now Assistant Manager of the Univer-
sity Track Team.
Arthur Dwight Allen of Louisville,
Ky., tapped by Percy Avery Rockefeller
of New York City. He is a member of
Alpha Delta Phi and was elected Presi-
dent of Phi Beta Kappa for the ensu-
ing year at the last meeting. He is also
a member of the Executive Cominittee
of the Junior Wranglers.
Ray Morris of New Haven, Conn.,
tapped by Frederick Winthrop Allen of
Walpole, Mass. He is a member of
Delta Kappa Epsilon. He is Chairman
of the Yale Literary Magazine and an
editor of the Yale Record. He is a
member of the Executive Committee of
the Junior Wigwam and was Fence
Orator, both Freshman and Sophomore
years.
Robert Burns Hixon of La Crosse,
Wis., tapped by Frank Dexter Cheney of
South Manchester, Conn. He is amem-
ber of Psi Upsilon. He was a member
of his Freshman Football Team and is
now Manager of the University Football
Association.
John Shepard Eells of Ross Station,
Cal., tapped by Stuart Brown Camp of
West Winsted, Conn. He was a mem-
ber of Kappa Psi in his Sophomore year
and Alpha Delta Phi in his Junior year.
He is Vice-President of the Hotchkiss
Club and President of several other
clubs.
James Mandeville Carlisle of Wash-
ington, D. C., tapped by Ashley Day
Leavitt of Melrose, Mass. He was a
member of Eta Phi in his Sophomore
year and Alpha Delta Phi in his Junior,
and is a member of the Apollo Glee
Club.
George Arnold Welch of Cleveland,
O., tapped by George Armstrong Lyon,
Jr. of Erie, Pa. He was a member of
Eta Phi in Sophomore year and of Delta
Kappa Epsilon in Junior. He is Chair-
man of the Yale News, and sings on
the University Glee Club and in the
College Choir. He received a Second
Dispute appointment last Fall.
Thomas Langdon Cheney of South
Manchester, Conn., tapped by Malcolm
Douglas.of Albany, No Yo. Me was a
member of Eta Phi in his Sophomore
year and Delta Kappa Epsilon in his
Junior. He has played on the Golf
Team for several years, and is Univer-
sity golf champion.
Warren Hoysradt of Hudson, N. Y.,
