’64—Rev. A. Douglas Miller will oc-
cupy the pulpit of St. James Protestant
Episcopal Church of New Haven for the
Winter. He will commence his duties
November I.
’65—John W. Hicks of Boston, Mass.,
was elected Supreme Commander for the
Continent of North America of the An-
cient and Illustrious Order of Knights of
Malta, at the meeting held in Philadel-
phia, Pa., last week. He served three
terms as Grand Commander of Massa-
chusetts and is now serving his second
term as Grand Recorder of the same
State. He has also served one term as
Supreme Prelate and one term as Su-
preme Generalissimo and is now the
highest officer in the United States.
‘71—George P. Wilshire has tendered
his resignation as Receiver of the First
National Bank of Newport, Ky. He has
devoted his entire time for the past three
years to the work ‘and has secured for
the depositors dividends amounting to
75 per cent. When the bank failed it
was not thought that it would pay 25
per cent. He has collected and sent to
Washington enough to pay another
dividend. He says that possibly 10 per
cent. may yet be collected. The name
of his successor is not known.
*76—The annual banquet of the New
Haven Chamber of Commerce, to be held
Wednesday evening, November 15, will
partake of the nature of a complimentary
dinner to Yresident Hadley, who is a
member of the Chamber.
*78—J. B. McEwan has been renomi-
nated for the New York Assembly by
the Republicans of Albany.
78—The marriage of Mrs. Clara
Croxson Lounsbery, of Bedford, N. Y.,
and Edward Lind Morse, of Washing-
ton, took place October 16, in the Church
of the Ascension, New York City.
’81—A son, William King Coffin, was
born to Mr. and Mrs. Charles P. Coffin,
at Evanston, Ill., Sept. 30, 1899.
’81—Professor Benjamin W. Bacon, of
the Yale Divinity School, will publish
an “Introduction to the New Testament,”
-early in the coming year.
’°83—The October 1 umber of Gunton’s
Magazine contains an article on “Protec-
fio and Empire,’ by Edward N. Ding-
ey.
*85—J. C. Bridgman has been elected
Manager of the Hazard Mfg. Co., Wilkes
Barre, Pa.
*88—E. B. Terry is studying theology
at Princeton.
790 S.— Oliver S. Lyford, Jr., has. re-
signed his position of Chief Engineer of
the Westinghouse Electric Comnany of
Pittsburg and has accepted the General
Managership of the Siemans, Halske
Electric Company of America in Chi-
cago.
’90 S.— Dr. Frederick J. Mann has re-
cently resigned from the medical staff
of the Hudson River State Hospital at
Poughkeepsie, N. Y., after four years
service there and is now practicing medi-
cine at 302 Mill Street of that city. His
engagement to Miss Mina Louise Frost,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph G.
Frost of Poughkeepsie, has recently been
announced. :

‘91 T.S.—Rev. Harry E. Peabody,
formerly Assistant Pastor of the Church
of the Redeemer, was installed pastor
of the Windsor Avenue Congregational
Church of Hartford on October 20.

garet McKiernan, daughter of Mrs. R.
McKiernan, of 18 Park Street, New Ha-
ven, to Dr. Harry A. Elcock, took

’92—Rev. Arthur Wynne Shaw has
changed his address to Chichester, Uls-
ter County, N. J. He is a missionary
of the Protestant Episcopal Diocese of
New Jersey to Chichester, Phoenicia and
Pine Hill. ,
’93—John S. Cravens has been elected
President of the Edison Electric Com-
pany of Los Angeles. This is one of
the largest electric light and power com-
panies in California, and is noted for the
fact that it brings its power to Los
Angeles from its water power plant in
the San Bernadino Mountains, a dis-
tance of eighty miles.

T. Adee, ’95, have formed a brokerage

assistant to President M. F. Tyler, ’70,
of the Southern New England Telephone
Company, and will enter upon his duties
about January Ist. He is now with the
Winchester Repeating Arms Company.
Mr. and Mrs. Tyler, who have been
living at the New Haven House since
their marriage last February, are mov-
ing into their new home on Prospect
Street, the house formerly occupied by
Mrs. Newton, widow ot the late Pro-
fessor Newton.
’98—Hiram Bingham, Jr., now a
graduate student at the University of
California, has been awarded first prize
in the competition for a curtain-raiser
for the annual Thanksgiving show of
the Berkeley students at the Grand
Opera House in San Francisco, on the
evening of the football game between
the University of California and Leland
Stanford, Jr., University. Of the eight
curtain-raisers submitted, Mr. Bingham’s
was declared by the committee of judges
much the best, and commended for its
originality and quickness of action.
