The. judges this year were the Hon.
Simon E. Baldwin, Prof. E. G. Bourne
and Mr. Chauncey W. Wells. - Nine es-
says were submitted in competition for
the prize and several of the essays were
pronounced by the judges, of high
quality. The prize winner, as elsewhere
announced, was Nathan Ayer Smyth of
New Haven.
