THE MARLIN FIRE ARMS CoO., New Haven, Conn.
THE NEW TonrTINE HeTEL
One of the most delightful locations for a hotel is that of the old Tontine lead into a new café for centlemen, which it is intended shall occupy the
Hotel, commanding a view of the old green with its magnificent elms and entire lower floor in front, and when finished will be as handsome a place as
ts historic buildings; and nearly all the leading business interests, which is an
absolute necessity to the commercial traveller, and the patronage of a hotel
now-a-days depends largely on the commercial trade. On account of its nearby
location to the Colleges, friends and parents visiting Yale University will find it
a comfortable home while stopping in New Haven.
Mr. Geo. T. White, who for the past ten years has been the well known
manager of Heublein Bros. Café, has leased the property for a term of years, and
after extensive alterations and improvements will re-open it as the New Tontine
Hotel. |
The house has been thoroughly renovated, painted, papered and decorated,
and old patrons will find many changes and improvements. The office has been
enlarged, and a handsome and commodious writing-room added. The iron
balcony has been removed from the front of the office, and a broad flight of steps
there is, devoted to that line of business, in New Haven.
The kitchen has been entirely remodeled and refurnished, and now contains
everything of the latest in relation to the cuisine, which will be under the
management of a first-class hotel chef, and the table will be at all times furnished
with everything the markets afford.
The management will pay particular attention to theatre parties, who will find
its central location, and its ample facilities for catering to their wants, wili make
it a very desirable place to enjoy a supper after the theatre.
Mr. White has surrounded himself with a staff of able assistants, every one
of whom has been chosen for his efficiency in his particular line ; and we wish
the ‘‘New Tontine” the success it deserves, and bespeak for it the patronage of
all Yale men, and the travelling public at large.
